Amor de madre
Una madre teje, una hija intenta aprender. Una acción sobre la herencia entre madres e hijas.
A mother knits, a daughter tries to learn. An action on the inheritance between mothers and daughters.
En la sala aparece la artista con su madre. Sentadas una frente a otra. Se oye el sonido del latido acompasado de un corazón. La madre inicia el acto de tejer. La hija la intenta imitar con torpeza, debido a que no sabe cómo tejer. El hilo va generando tensiones entre ambas. Tejer / destejer. Lo que puede suceder es imprevisible…
La acción representa las tensiones que se generan entre madres e hijas, la admiración de la hija hacia la madre, el empeño en aprender de ella, en atesorar el conocimiento de las ancestras o en dar espacio a la propia identidad, siempre ligada a una herencia que se repite como un patrón (al igual que el tejido) generación tras generación.
The artist appears in the room with her mother, sitting face to face. The steady sound of a heartbeat can be heard. The mother begins to knit. The daughter clumsily tries to copy her, because she doesn't know how to knit. The yarn creates tension between them. Knitting / unravelling. What may happen is unpredictable…
The action represents the tensions that arise between mothers and daughters, the daughter's admiration for her mother, the effort to learn from her, to treasure the knowledge of our foremothers or to make room for one's own identity, always bound to an inheritance that repeats itself like a pattern (just like knitting) generation after generation.
